Ever wonder who and what you're supporting when you purchase from a small business?

I love connection. I love to read about the why, the how, and all the things in between when it comes to other small businesses ... it's a way to connect and support beyond making a purchase.

With Amazon (who seems to be taking over the world) and big box stores and brands, there's no connection. They know nothing about their customers and aren't connected to them in any way, shape, or form. Quite frankly, the only connection they want is to our wallets. To some people, this is totally fine - they don't care about or need anything outside of that. I get it. I don't necessarily *need* it, but I like it.

The small businesses I enjoy supporting are those that "see" their customers. They make a point to connect with, learn about, and engage with them. I have customers that have turned into friends, and I've heard that from other small business owners as well. It doesn't get much more connected than that! 🥰

Seeing the faces and the family behind the brand just makes me feel like I'm actually making a difference with my purchases, and that's something I enjoy and value.

If you love this like I do, here we are ... this is us. This is chip+chisel. ❤️

this is us, family photo, how our business started

I'm Lindsy. A maker, a mama, a fire wife. This little business of mine got me through an infertility battle that almost broke me, and most recently, helped me to thrive through my breast cancer journey.

My husband, Ian, is a fire captain at one of our local fire departments, the best dad and husband we could have ever asked for and is my number one supporter. He's had my back in this business since it started and has cheered me on through all the ups and downs.

Our girls, Addi + Livi, are the miracles we thought we would never have. Between softball, gymnastics, and school, these little lovebugs keep us VERY busy, but if you know us, you know that we're fiercely protective of our family time and slow mornings cuddled up on the couch together is a priority. These two get to not only see me pour my heart into something I love, but now they actually work inside the business too! It's all come full circle. 💞

Not many people know that this business of ours was never really supposed to be a business. It came to life as a way to (hopefully) help us pay for IVF, but surprise ... almost twelve years later, we're still here!

"Did you know that the average IVF cycle costs around $13k? Yeah, that number can feel like a punch in the gut. Especially when you learn that, on average, it takes about three cycles for it to work. I was overwhelmed. I took on extra hours at work and decided to start a side hustle – making jewelry. My husband raised an eyebrow at my out-of-left-field idea, but I was determined. I bought supplies like there was no tomorrow – and let me tell you, I had no idea what I was doing, so I just bought everything! Boxes were showing up at our house daily. My husband's expression every time the doorbell rang was priceless."
